Bluegrass, bourbon and blues

There’s something timeless about a summer Friday night out at Wheat Brothers Farms. As the sun dipped low behind the hills, the doors of the LH Coffee Bar & Saloon swung wide open, welcoming neighbors, cattlemen, cattlewomen, and good friends alike.

Inside our 1910 farmhouse, the atmosphere was nothing short of electric—yet somehow still as comforting as Granny’s kitchen table. Complimentary bourbon and cold beer were poured with a smile, and every glass seemed to sparkle with laughter and conversation.

And then the music began.

The evening carried the musical stylings of Yancey Slade and The Wild Cards, who strummed and sang with a fire that filled the room. Their bluegrass soul paired perfectly with the warm hum of voices, boots tapping on wood floors, and the creak of the old porch door swinging in the breeze. Glade Nielson took the mic, his heartfelt renditions of Johnny Cash sending a ripple of nostalgia through the crowd. it became clear we weren’t just listening to songs—we were witnessing stories being told, stitched into the fabric of our community.

There’s a beauty in gathering like this. It isn’t just the music, or the bourbon, or even the songs of Johnny Cash drifting under the porch lights—it’s the people. A wholesome group of cattlemen and cattlewomen, neighbors who show up, and friends who feel more like family.

Nights like these remind us why we do what we do. Wheat Brothers Farms and the LH Coffee Bar & Saloon aren’t just places—they’re spaces where stories are shared, where music units, and where community roots grow deeper with every gathering.

As the last notes faded into the night sky and conversations lingered long after, one thought kept circling in my heart: I can’t wait to host again.

Here’s to the next Friday evening filled with music, bourbon, laughter, and the good company of those who make this farmhouse a home.
